Job description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants to fill the IT Administrator positions in Durban Head office. The successful candidates will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, networks, and virtualization environments at the port. Not limited to strict adherence to the required rules and regulations, company rules, safety rules and code of conduct.
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate daily IT operations, including system maintenance and troubleshooting
- Evaluate and recommend new hardware or software solutions to improve operational efficiency.
- Run day-to-day operations for CargIT
- Work with third-party vendors and contractors to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Assist in the implementation of new IT systems and upgrades
- Maintain IT documentation, policies, and procedures
- Oversee domain management, DNS configurations, and email system administration.
- Implement and enforce IT security policies, including access control, password management, data protection, and acceptable use policies.
- Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments
- Collaborate with the IT Coordinator on infrastructure upgrades and the implementation of new digital tools.
- Liaise with technology vendors, ISPs, and service providers to negotiate contracts and ensure service delivery.
- Provide hands-on and remote support for specialized logistics software and hardware (e.g., handheld scanners, thermal printers).
- Assist the IT Coordinator in developing and testing Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Diploma or IT NQF3 certificate information technology,
- Proven experience in an IT support or coordination role
- Knowledge of networking, hardware, and software systems
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
Working Conditions:
- Office-based with occasional on-site technical support
- May require after-hours support for system upgrades or emergencies
