Job Related Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Software Testing and Progress programming
- Full SDLC experience
- Progress System experience
- System Integration experience
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux
- Familiarity with source code control systems.
- Excellent proficiency with the software development environment and coding language used
- Must be prepared to work overtime when needed
- Driver’s license and own transport
Computer Literacy Level:
- Advanced Microsoft Office
- Proficient in Microsoft Visio
- Advanced Progress/OpenEdge
- Knowledge of XSD and XML schema’s
- Database administration knowledge
- Integration knowledge to be able to integrate from and to other systems (externally and internally)
- Knowledge of queues (ACE/IBM, MQ)
- Round Table source control

Main Purpose of the Role:
This software developer plays a key role in the design, development (coding), testing and maintenance of software systems according to user requirements. The systems development life cycle will be applied throughout the development phase. The developer will primarily be using Progress as a development language.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyse the user requirements
- Accurate estimation of development effort involved to produce system as per user requirement
- Take part in analysis and system design
- Develop code that is easy to maintain and understand with quality of software and application the focus
- Plan, design and author test points and give guidance to quality tester
- Prepare accurate installation documents
- Participate in software build/release activities
- Maintenance and support of current systems and fixing of bugs
- Accurate progress reports as required by IT/Project manager

- Must be able to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills are critical
- Must be analytical and logical with a natural curiosity

- The ability to work as a team player is essential
