IT Field Technician

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused IT Field Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing on-site and remote technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining IT infrastructure, and ensuring that clients’ IT environments operate efficiently.

The ideal candidate must have strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while delivering a high standard of service to clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide on-site and remote technical support to clients and end users.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
• Perform operating system installations, software deployments, and system upgrades.
• Configure and support Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365 applications, and related technologies.
• Troubleshoot basic LAN, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP connectivity issues.
• Assist with the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network devices and IT peripherals.
• Manage and update service desk tickets, ensuring accurate documentation of incidents and resolutions.
• Perform IT equipment installations, relocations, replacements, and preventative maintenance.
• Maintain accurate asset registers and ensure that IT equipment is properly recorded and assigned.
• Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers or relevant support teams.
• Provide professional customer service and communicate effectively with clients.
• Adhere to company IT policies, procedures, security standards, and service-level agreements.
• Travel to client sites as required to provide technical support and complete assigned tasks.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• IT qualification, diploma, or relevant technical certification.
• 2–4 years of experience in an IT support or field technician role.
• Practical experience in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 applications.
• Basic knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Wi-Fi.
• Experience with service desk or IT ticketing systems.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to client sites.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple support requests.
• Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and time-management skills.

Advantageous Skills

• CompTIA A+, Network+, or relevant Microsoft certifications.
• Experience supporting Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Exposure to Microsoft Intune and endpoint management.
• Experience with IT asset management and inventory control.
• Knowledge of remote support tools and IT service management practices.
• Experience working in a managed services or client-facing IT environment.

Pay: R16 000,00 per month
