Job description
IT Infrastructure Administrator: Clinglobal South Africa
Clinglobal is a leading Animal Health Contract Research Organisation (CRO) with global operations. Our work supports vital veterinary research conducted under strict GLP and GxP standards. We are looking for a practical, proactive IT Infrastructure Administrator to join our team in Bloemfontein, South Africa. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys keeping systems reliable, secure, and compliant so that our scientists and teams can focus on what really matters — improving animal health.
This is a hands-on role in which you will be the steady presence ensuring our servers, networks, cloud resources, and backup systems perform at their best every day. You will sit between frontline support and specialist teams, handling day-to-day infrastructure with confidence while escalating complex or design-level decisions appropriately. If you enjoy solving real technical problems, value clear documentation, and want your work to directly support regulated, high-quality research, we would love to meet you.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities listed below highlight the main focus areas of the role. The full job description, including all duties, expectations, and detailed requirements, will be shared and discussed during the interview process.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimise our on-premises and cloud servers, storage, and network infrastructure so that everything stays available, fast, and aligned with business needs.
- Manage network components (firewalls, switches, routers, and VPNs) and cloud resources (Azure, AWS, or approved platforms) with a strong focus on security and compliance.
- Run proactive patch management, updates, and troubleshooting to prevent issues before they impact the business.
- Own backup, disaster recovery, and restore processes — including regular testing — to protect critical data and meet business continuity and regulatory requirements.
- Apply cybersecurity controls, assist with vulnerability assessments, and respond to incidents in line with our established procedures and timelines.
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation, configuration records, and change logs that support GxP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, and successful internal and external audits.
- Act as the key escalation point above Tier 1 Support for complex infrastructure issues and manage secure user access, account provisioning, and onboarding/offboarding processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, security, or efficiency and contribute to infrastructure projects, migrations, and upgrades while following proper change control and validation processes.
- Continue learning by participating in training, competency development, and continuous improvement activities that strengthen our regulated IT environment.
Qualification and Experience requirements
- A relevant IT qualification (Diploma, Advanced Certificate, or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a closely related field).
- At least 4–5 years’ hands-on experience in systems administration, network administration, infrastructure support, or IT operations.
- Solid practical experience with Windows and/or Linux server administration, networking (firewalls, switches, VPNs, and routing), backup/DR solutions, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or equivalent).
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Cisco CCNA, or CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable.
- Experience (or a genuine interest) in regulated/GxP-compliant IT environments is a strong advantage. You must be comfortable working within validated systems, SOPs, change control, and data integrity requirements.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally to other group sites for infrastructure support or projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- A collaborative team player who takes ownership, documents work accurately and enjoys working with others to continuously improve how we support our research.
Why this role matters here
You won’t just be “keeping the lights on”. Your work directly enables secure, compliant, and efficient digital operations that underpin high-quality animal health research. You’ll join a team that values practical problem-solving, clear communication, and continuous improvement in a genuinely meaningful industry.

- Peace of mind with Death, Disability, and Funeral benefits fully paid by the employer.

- 20 days of annual leave, plus additional leave in line with relevant legislation — because we know rest and balance matter.
