Metso is seeking a proactive and business-oriented IT (Information Technology) Specialist to support technology initiatives across South Africa. This role is ideally suited for an experienced IT professional who enjoys working with people, managing projects, coordinating vendors and driving business improvements through technology.

The position focuses on project delivery, stakeholder engagement, business process improvement, vendor coordination, asset management and ensuring successful execution of IT initiatives. While a solid understanding of IT infrastructure and applications is required, this is not a deeply technical engineering role.

The successful candidate will act as a bridge between business teams, vendors, and global IT functions to ensure technology solutions support operational and strategic business objectives.

In this position, you will report to the Country IT Manager – Africa, Middle East & Türkiye .

This position is mainly based in Centurion , Gauteng

TEAM YOU’LL BELONG TO

You will be part of the IT Team and work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such all Global IT Personnel , mainly Global IT Service Owners and Regional IT Team Members , Global IT Suppliers and in Country Level IT Services Providers and Suppliers .

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Infrastructure Management

Design, implement, maintain, and improve IT infrastructure solutions

Support and manage:

Microsoft 365

Azure environments

Active Directory

Networking (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN)

Servers and storage systems

Backup and disaster recovery solutions

Cybersecurity controls

End-user computing platforms

Monitor system health and proactively identify risks and improvement opportunities

Participate in infrastructure modernization and cloud transformation initiatives

Coordinate infrastructure incidents with global support teams and vendors

Ensure security, compliance, and operational stability

Application Management

Support and manage local, regional, and global business applications

Coordinate application upgrades, testing, deployments, and releases

Troubleshoot complex application and integration issues

Participate in application selection and implementation projects

Support system integrations and ensure data integrity across platforms

Work closely with business stakeholders to optimize system usage and process efficiency

Business Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement

Act as the primary IT contact for assigned business units

Gather, analyze, and document business requirements

Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions

Conduct workshops, solution demonstrations, and user engagement sessions

Identify opportunities for:

Process automation

Digital transformation

Operational efficiency improvements

Cost optimization

Build strong relationships with business leadership and key stakeholders

Project Management Responsibilities

The successful candidate will lead and deliver IT projects from initiation to closure, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with business requirements and IT governance standards. Responsibilities include:

Defining project scope, objectives, requirements, risks, and success criteria

Developing project plans, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and stakeholder communication plans

Managing project delivery, vendors, stakeholders, risks, issues, and change requests

Monitoring project progress and providing regular status reporting to business and IT leadership

Ensuring compliance with Metso project management methodologies, governance frameworks, documentation standards, and audit requirement

Vendor & Asset Management

Manage relationships with local IT service providers and suppliers

Monitor vendor performance and SLA compliance

Support procurement processes and vendor onboarding

Maintain IT asset records and CMDB accuracy

Ensure proper lifecycle management of all IT assets

Support internal and external audits

WHO YOU ARE

Education & Experience:

Matric (Grade 12)

Degree or equivalent experience with the role advertised

Minimum 10-15 years of hands-on IT experience

Minimum 8-10 years of proven IT Project Management experience

Demonstrated experience delivering medium to large-scale IT projects from start to finish

Strong business analysis and stakeholder management experience

Experience managing external vendors and service providers

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel when required

The position will be awarded based on merit, qualifications, experience, and demonstrated competencies
