About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on, customer-focused IT Technician to provide day-to-day, on-site IT support across our Bloemfontein Office including remote staff. This role is responsible for keeping end-user devices, service desk tickets, and core systems running reliably and securely, working closely with the Head of Division: Information Technology and our managed service partners.
You will be the on-the-ground point of contact for end-user support, endpoint monitoring, and service desk management, with exposure to server administration and infrastructure support as you grow in the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on, on-site IT support to end-users across the Company during business hours, resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Log, track, prioritise, and resolve support tickets via the IT service desk platform, meeting agreed SLA response and resolution targets.
- Monitor, patch, and maintain end-user devices (desktops, laptops, printers) using the organisation's Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM) tooling.
- Perform routine health monitoring, patching, and event log review of on-premises and virtual servers; assist with backup validation and performance alerting.
- Manage user account provisioning, access administration, and Active Directory / Group Policy administration.
- Maintain an accurate IT asset inventory and up-to-date environment documentation.
- Support network connectivity, including basic switch, Wi-Fi, and LAN/WAN troubleshooting.
- Assist with software installations, upgrades, and change control activities in line with FARMOVS's regulated (GxP) environment.
- Escalate critical or business-impacting incidents promptly in line with agreed procedures.
- Support IT projects and infrastructure initiatives as directed by the Head of Division.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- National Diploma or relevant IT certification (e.g. CompTIA A+/N+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server / Azure Fundamentals). A relevant IT degree is advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years' hands-on experience in an IT support/technician role, including desktop support, service desk, and end-user support.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server administration and Active Directory.
- Experience using an RMM/endpoint management platform and an IT service desk/ticketing system.
- Exposure to virtualisation (VMware/Hyper-V) and backup systems advantageous.
- Basic networking knowledge (LAN/WAN, switches, Wi-Fi, firewalls).
- Experience working in a regulated/GxP or similarly compliance-driven environment advantageous.

- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple support requests under SLA pressure.
- Willingness to be based full-time, on-site at the Bloemfontein Office.
