IT Technician

About the Role

Our Client is a leading Managed Service Provider (MSP) and licensed Internet Service Provider (ISP), supporting a diverse portfolio of business clients across South Africa.

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled IT Technician to join our growing technical support team. This role is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day stability, security, and performance of both client and internal IT environments.

The successful candidate will provide end-to-end IT support, from user workstations and Microsoft environments to servers, networking infrastructure, and connectivity services. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional who enjoys working across multiple technologies in a fast-paced Managed Services environment.

Key Responsibilities

Windows Workstation & Server Administration

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems.
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, print services, and user account management.
• Deploy, configure, and support Microsoft 365 and other business-critical applications.
• Manage server performance, storage capacity, backups, disaster recovery, and system health.
• Perform operating system updates, patch management, and security maintenance.

End-to-End Network Administration

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, and VPN connections.
• Support LAN, WAN, and Internet connectivity across multiple client environments.
• Diagnose network performance issues and implement appropriate solutions.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, IP addressing schemes, and technical documentation.
• Assist with infrastructure upgrades and technology deployments.

Managed IT Support

• Monitor client environments using remote monitoring and management tools.
• Respond to system alerts before they impact business operations.
• Perform proactive maintenance and system optimisation.
• Resolve technical incidents within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Escalate complex issues where required while maintaining ownership of support cases.

Security & Backup Management

• Administer endpoint protection and security solutions.
• Verify backup integrity and perform data recovery when required.
• Implement security best practices and system hardening.
• Assist with vulnerability remediation and compliance initiatives.

Client Support & Service Delivery

• Provide remote and onsite technical support.
• Maintain regular communication with clients throughout the support process.
• Deliver excellent customer service while resolving technical issues efficiently.
• Build trusted relationships with clients through professional service delivery.

Documentation & Administration

• Maintain accurate service tickets and technical documentation.
• Record troubleshooting steps and resolutions.
• Update asset registers and configuration documentation.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of technical procedures and support documentation.

Minimum RequirementsEssential

• Minimum 3 years' hands-on IT support experience
• Experience working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or multi-client environment is highly advantageous
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10/11 and Windows Server environments
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365
• Valid South African Driver's Licence
• Own reliable vehicle (client site visits required)
• Matric (Grade 12)

Advantageous

• 4–5 years of IT support experience
• IT Diploma or Degree
• CompTIA A+
• CompTIA Network+
• Microsoft Certifications (MD-102, AZ-104, Windows Server or equivalent)
• Additional networking or security certifications
