IT Technician — Mthatha, Eastern Cape

Job Purpose

To provide first- and second-line IT technical support across the business, ensuring reliable operation of hardware, software, networks, and end-user devices, while supporting broader infrastructure and connectivity systems in line with Liquid Telecom's service standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral hardware
• Provide first- and second-line technical support to internal staff (helpdesk/ticketing system)
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
• Set up and manage user accounts, permissions, and access on company systems (Active Directory / Office 365 or similar)
• Support and maintain LAN/WAN connectivity, routers, switches, and basic network infrastructure
• Assist with server and data centre support tasks as required
• Manage IT asset inventory (hardware and software licensing)
• Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT/network engineers
• Support onboarding/offboarding of staff from an IT equipment and access perspective
• Ensure compliance with IT security policies and data protection standards
• Maintain accurate documentation of IT processes, configurations, and incident logs
• Provide basic training/guidance to end-users on systems and applications

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12
• A+ and N+ certification (essential)
• Relevant IT diploma or degree (advantageous)
• MCSE, CCNA, or similar vendor certifications (advantageous)
• 1–3 years' experience in an IT technical support or helpdesk role
• Experience in a telecoms, ISP, or network-driven environment advantageous

Technical Skills

• Windows OS and Microsoft Office 365 administration
• Basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
• Active Directory user/group management
• Hardware troubleshooting (desktops, laptops, printers)
• Ticketing/helpdesk systems (e.g. ServiceNow, Freshservice)
• Basic understanding of LAN/WAN and fibre/telecoms infrastructure environments (advantageous)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to R16 000,00 per month
