IT Technician – Office Automation & Infrastructure
Location: South Africa
Job Type: Full-Time
Experience Required: Minimum 5 Years
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced IT Technician with a strong background in network infrastructure, CCTV systems, telecommunications hardware, firewall management, and office automation systems.
This is a hands-on role requiring the ability to work independently across multiple client environments, handling installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
Network & Infrastructure
- LAN & WAN configuration and support
- Router and switch configuration (VLANs, routing, QoS)
- VPN setup and remote connectivity
- Wireless network deployment and optimisation
- Structured cabling and rack installations
Firewall & Security
- Basic to intermediate firewall configuration
- NAT, port forwarding, and rule management
- Implementation of network security best practices
CCTV Systems
- Installation and configuration of IP-based CCTV systems
- NVR/DVR setup and remote viewing
- Fault finding and maintenance
Telecommunications
- Telecom hardware installation and configuration
- SIP-based services setup (excluding IP PABX programming)
- Handset setup and troubleshooting
- Integration of telecom infrastructure with network environments
Office Automation
- Installation and support of multifunction printers and devices
- Print management systems
- Firmware updates and troubleshooting
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in IT infrastructure
- Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, LAN, WAN)
- Firewall configuration experience (MikroTik, Fortinet, Sophos or similar)
- CCTV installation and configuration experience
- Telecommunications systems experience
- Valid driver’s license
Key Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
- Ability to work independently
- Client-facing communication skills
- Good time and project management
Advantageous
- Network+ / Security+
- Vendor certifications (MikroTik, Fortinet, Cisco)
- Experience in office automation industry
