What this role is all about:

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join a high-performing technology team responsible for delivering scalable, high-quality software solutions that support key business objectives. This role combines hands-on software engineering with solution design, technical ownership and collaborative delivery, working closely with business analysts, architects and development teams to create innovative, cost-effective solutions. The successful candidate will contribute to technical standards, support continuous improvement initiatives and play an important role in maintaining the reliability, performance and scalability of enterprise applications. Key Actions

• Design, develop and deliver robust Java-based applications that support business requirements and align with architectural standards and development best practices
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand complex business needs, translating requirements into practical, scalable and cost-effective technical solutions
• Contribute to solution architecture, technical design and software governance activities, ensuring consistency, maintainability and long-term sustainability
• Produce high-quality, clean and efficient code using modern engineering principles, development frameworks and established delivery methodologies
• Drive software quality through code reviews, static code analysis, unit testing, functional testing, regression testing and performance validation activities
• Participate in feasibility assessments, proof of concepts, estimation exercises and technical evaluations to support informed delivery decisions
• Maintain and support production systems, resolving defects, investigating issues and ensuring optimal application performance and service availability
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including data models, diagrams, interface specifications, operational procedures and support materials
• Support the growth and development of colleagues through knowledge sharing, coaching, technical guidance and contribution to team capability development

What do you need to thrive?

• 5+ years' experience developing enterprise applications in Java
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles
• Experience with Spring, Hibernate and JUnit
• Knowledge of SOA, microservices and distributed architectures
• Experience working with Docker and modern application deployment practices
• Strong understanding of SQL, data modelling and database design
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful services using JSON
• Knowledge of UML, enterprise architecture concepts and architectural styles
• Exposure to Kafka and event-driven architectures
• Experience with software testing methodologies and quality assurance practices
• Strong collaboration, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Please note that occasional overtime and participation in a rotational standby support schedule may be required
