Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Physical Sciences Tutor to join our boutique academic team. This position focuses entirely on the FET Phase (Grades 10, 11, and 12), helping students master both the Physics and Chemistry components of the syllabus.
The ideal candidate has a deep passion for science, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of helping students confidently navigate complex equations, mechanics, and chemical reactions.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, personalised one-on-one or small-group tutoring in Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) to learners in Grades 10–12.
- Deliver lessons in English, ensuring all scientific theories, formulas, and terminology are communicated with absolute clarity.
- Prepare senior students for school-based assessments, practical data-handling interpretation, and final Matric examinations.
- Confidently teach the core modules across both CAPS and IEB curricula (including Mechanics, Electricity & Magnetism, Stoichiometry, and Organic Chemistry).
- Monitor student understanding, address core foundational gaps, and provide brief progress feedback to maintain our premium service standards.
Requirements
- Curriculum Expertise: A comprehensive, working knowledge of the South African CAPS and IEB Physical Sciences syllabi for the FET phase.
- Language: Full professional proficiency in English.
- Location: Must be resident in or near Durbanville for regular, in-person tutoring sessions.
- Experience: Previous experience teaching or tutoring Grade 10–12 Physical Sciences is highly preferred.
- Qualifications: A strong academic background in STEM fields—currently pursuing or holding a relevant degree (e.g., BSc, BEd Senior/FET Phase, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, or related fields).
- Transport: Reliable personal transport to travel to students' homes or local tutoring spaces.

- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to break down abstract concepts (like chemical bonding or electrodynamics) into manageable, practical steps.
