Junior Accountant

About the Role

Based at our Franschhoek office, the Junior Accountant will play an integral role in supporting the full finance function of the business. Working closely with management and the wider team, you will ensure our financial records remain accurate, compliant and up to date while contributing to efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and finance administration
• Perform accurate bank, supplier and customer reconciliations
• Maintain accounting records and ensure all transactions are correctly processed and allocated
• Assist with month-end procedures, financial reporting and management accounts
• Process payroll and support payroll-related administration
• Prepare audit-ready schedules and supporting documentation
• Assist with VAT returns, statutory submissions and financial compliance
• Maintain accurate records using Xero, Microsoft Excel and internal systems
• Identify discrepancies and proactively resolve financial queries
• Provide general administrative support to the finance function as required

Minimum Requirements

• 2–5 years' practical experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
• Proven experience using Xero (essential)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
• Professional communication and interpersonal skills
• Payroll and/or HR administration experience will be advantageous
• Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping qualification preferred
• Must reside in or be willing to commute to Franschhoek, Paarl or Wellington
