Junior Accountant

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform monthly bookkeeping and general ledger processing for clients
• Assist with Compilation of Annual Financial Statements under ISRS 4410
• Prepare working papers, reconciliations and supporting schedules for review
• Assist with preparation and submission of individual and company income tax returns
• Assist with VAT calculations, reconciliations and return submissions
• Support payroll processing tasks and payroll taxes submission
• Maintain accurate, well-organised client files
• Respond to routine client queries and escalate technical matters appropriately
• Assist with basic administrative tasks and firm related tasks

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• N6 Financial Management or Diploma in Accounting, or equivalent
• No experience required (at least 1 year experience advantageous)

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

• Sound understanding of basic accounting principles and Financial Reporting
• Sound understanding of taxation, including income Tax, VAT and PAYE
• Inderstanding of the Tax Administration Act
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; comfortable learning new systems
• Exposure to Accounting Systems, Payroll Systems and SARS eFiling advantageous
• Accurate, details orientated, organised and deadline-driven
• Eager to learn, with a strong sense of ownership over assigned work
• Professional manner and good written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work well within a team
