Junior Accountant

Ladurée South Africa is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to support the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the efficient financial operations of our luxury retail and hospitality business. The successful candidate will assist with daily accounting activities, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end processes while maintaining the high standards synonymous with the Ladurée brand.

Key Responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, credit notes, and payments accurately and on time.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts.
• Assist with cash management, including reconciliation of cash takings and POS transactions from retail stores and cafés.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
• Support VAT calculations and statutory compliance requirements.
• Assist with payroll preparation by providing finance-related information.
• Prepare financial reports, reconciliations, and schedules for management.
• Monitor inventory-related accounting transactions and liaise with operations regarding stock variances.
• Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with company policies.
• Support external auditors during annual audits.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Maintain filing systems and financial documentation.
• Perform ad hoc finance and administrative duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–3 years' accounting experience, preferably within retail, hospitality, luxury retail, or food & beverage.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles and South African financial regulations.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, Pastel, SAP Business One, or similar).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with POS reconciliation is advantageous.
• Knowledge of VAT and basic payroll processes is beneficial.
