Job description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our team based in Illovo. This opportunity is ideal for a recent graduate or someone with up to two years of accounting experience who is looking to build a solid foundation in finance and accounting.
Minimum Requirements
- BCom Degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification
- 0 - 2 years' accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Key Responsibilities
- Cash book maintenance and daily bank reconciliations
- Management of creditor functions, including supplier reconciliations and payments
- Management of debtor functions, including collections and reconciliations
- Preparation of monthly creditor and debtor age analyses
- Reconciliation of payroll information to bank account payments
- Assisting with VAT reconciliations, returns, and payments
- Daily sales reconciliations across multiple stores
- Monthly petty cash reconciliations
- Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintaining fixed asset records and reconciliations
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Assisting with ad hoc finance projects and reporting requirements
