Job description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our Finance team based in Illovo. This opportunity is ideal for a recent graduate or an individual with up to two years of accounting experience who is looking to develop their career and gain exposure to the full accounting function within a dynamic business environment.
Minimum Requirements
- BCom Degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification
- 0 - 2 years' accounting experience
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cash books and perform daily bank reconciliations
- Process and reconcile creditor accounts, including supplier payments
- Manage debtor accounts, collections, and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly creditor and debtor age analyses
- Reconcile payroll information to bank payments
- Assist with VAT reconciliations, submissions, and payments
- Perform daily sales reconciliations across multiple stores
- Prepare monthly petty cash reconciliations
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and monthly reporting
- Maintain fixed asset registers and reconciliations
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date financial records and supporting documentation
- Support finance projects and ad hoc reporting requirements as needed
