Fieldfresh is looking for a Junior Assistant Buyer to support fresh produce procurement from the Johannesburg fresh produce market.

This is an entry-level opportunity suited to young candidates with an agricultural, procurement, supply chain, agribusiness, or fresh produce background. The successful candidate will assist with daily market buying, supplier communication, quality checks, stock administration, purchase orders, price tracking, and coordination with receiving, production, QA, and logistics. Ideal position for a postgraduate with an agricultural, procurement, supply chain or fresh produce background.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 essential
• 0 – 3 years’ experience
• Agricultural / procurement / supply chain qualification preferred
• Fresh produce, farm, market, stock control, or procurement exposure advantageous
• Strong interest in fresh produce buying and market operations
• Computer literate
• Good admin discipline
• Bilingual in Afrikaans and English preferred
• Reliable transport
• Willing to work early market-related hours
• Energetic, practical, reliable, and eager to learn

Advantage:

Experience at a fresh produce market, farm, packhouse, procurement department, or stock control environment

• Understanding of produce quality, grading, freshness, wastage, and returns
• Exposure to agents, growers, or market buying
