Location: Midrand Mall, Gauteng
Salary: R10,000 per month (Cost to Company)

The Other Side Shisanyama and Afro-Kitchen (TOSSAK) is a vibrant, culturally rich dining destination in Midrand, celebrating authentic shisanyama and Afro-kitchen cuisine. We're growing, and we're looking for an energetic Junior Assistant Restaurant Manager to help us deliver an exceptional guest experience every day.
The Role
Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, you'll support the day-to-day running of the restaurant — from front-of-house energy to back-of-house discipline. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and wants to grow into senior management.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate daily front and back-of-house operations, including opening and closing procedures
- Champion an outstanding guest experience — engaging with customers, resolving complaints, and building rapport
- Assist with recruiting, training, scheduling, and coaching the team, including daily pre-shift briefings
- Support financial controls: daily sales tracking, cash handling, stock and inventory checks, and cost management
- Help drive upselling of signature dishes, specials, and beverages
- Support promotions, social media campaigns, and community events celebrating African heritage
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and quality standards, and ensure compliance with company policy and the Bargaining Council for the Restaurant and Allied Trades
What We're Looking For
- Previous supervisory or junior management experience in a restaurant, shisanyama, or fast-paced hospitality environment
- Experience with Micros POS a strong advantage
- Strong people skills — able to lead, motivate, and hold a team accountable
- Comfortable with cash handling, stock control, and basic admin
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays (essential in this trade)
- Passion for African cuisine and culture, and pride in creating a lively guest atmosphere
- Matric essential; hospitality qualification an advantage
