Job description
BDP Attorneys is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Associate to join our Commercial Litigation Department in our Tyger Valley office. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an admitted attorney to develop their litigation expertise while working on a diverse range of commercial disputes and litigation matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and assist with commercial litigation matters from inception to finalisation.
- Draft pleadings, notices, applications, correspondence, opinions, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and provide written advice to clients and Directors.
- Attend consultations with clients, counsel, experts, and other stakeholders.
- Appear in court where appropriate.
- Prepare trial bundles and court documentation.
- Assist with case management and ensure compliance with court rules and procedural requirements.
- Assist with delegation and feedback to Candidate Legal Practitioners and Interns.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and service providers.
- Manage deadlines and maintain accurate matter records.
Minimum Requirements
- LLB degree.
- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
- 1 to 3 years' post-admission experience will be advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of High Court and Magistrates' Court procedures.
- Strong drafting, research, and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal practice management systems.
- Valid driver's licence.
