Junior Bookkeeper
Location: Edenvale, Gauteng
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: R15,000 – R17,000 per month
About the Role
A well-established company is looking for an experienced and reliable Junior Bookkeeper to join our team.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day bookkeeping and financial administration support, with a strong focus on debtors, creditors, reconciliations and accurate financial record keeping.
We are looking for someone who is organised, dependable and comfortable working independently. You should have strong attention to detail, be able to manage multiple responsibilities and remain accurate when working under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounts receivable/debtors and accounts payable/creditors functions
- Process customer invoices and allocate incoming payments
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Maintain and review debtor and creditor age analyses
- Follow up on outstanding accounts and assist with credit control
- Process credit card and COD transactions
- Prepare and process purchase orders
- Capture and maintain accurate financial records in Pastel Accounting
- Assist with procurement and purchasing through online vendor portals
- Maintain organised filing systems for financial records, company documents and certificates
- Assist with general financial and administrative queries
- Provide general administrative support to company directors
- Assist with HR-related administration where required
- Assist with other administrative duties as required
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' practical experience using Pastel Accounting
- Proven experience with debtors and creditors
- Strong bank reconciliation and payment allocation skills
- Experience working with debtor and creditor age analyses
- Good understanding of invoicing, purchase orders and credit control
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
- Experience using online vendor or supplier portals
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliable, punctual and task-focused
- Comfortable working in a busy environment and handling pressure
- Own reliable transport
Advantageous Experience
The following would be beneficial but is not essential:
- HR administration
- Visa application administration
- Standard Bank Fleet Management
- IOD claims and related administration
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00
Friday: 08:00 – 15:30

You are dependable, organised and take pride in getting the details right. You take initiative rather than waiting to be reminded about routine responsibilities and are comfortable managing your workload independently.
You will suit this role if you have solid bookkeeping experience, enjoy structured financial and administrative work, and are looking for a stable position within an established company.
