Job description
A professional services legal practice require a Junior Bookkeeper/Accountant who would work closely with and report to our current Accountant, so strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within the existing team structure would be important.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Daily Transaction Processing: Recording cashbook transactions and capturing
- Reconciliations: Performing monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial data
- SARS Compliance: Preparing and submitting VAT returns and managing payroll components like PAYE, UIF and SDL
- Financial Reporting: Producing monthly management accounts, including trial balances, income statements, balance sheet, and reconciling system reports.
- General Administration: Maintaining accurate filing systems, handling queries and assisting with year-end audit files for external auditors
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Software Proficiency: Strong experience in Pastel
- Education: A Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Financial Accounting
- Compliance Knowledge: Thorough understanding of South African tax laws (VAT, SARS) and accounting principles
- Competencies: High attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills
- 3-5 years Experience
- Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans
