Junior CAD & Footwear Manufacturing Technician

We are looking for a practical, technically minded individual to join our footwear manufacturing team as a Junior CAD & Footwear Manufacturing Technician.

This is an entry-level to junior opportunity suited to someone with a foundation in CAD, technical design, or similar computer-based technical systems who is interested in developing specialised skills in footwear manufacturing.

Previous work experience is not required. Matriculants and graduates with relevant technical subjects or CAD exposure are encouraged to apply, as are candidates with previous experience in CAD, manufacturing, production, pattern making, or other related technical environments.

While training will be provided on our specific footwear software, equipment, and manufacturing processes, candidates must already have some practical familiarity with CAD or similar technical software and a basic understanding of computer-aided design principles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Using ShoeMaster, specialised CAD and pattern software used in footwear manufacturing
• Operating a Zünd digital cutting system
• Preparing and cutting footwear components for production
• Working with digital patterns and production specifications
• Assisting with footwear pattern preparation
• Ensuring components are prepared accurately and consistently
• Supporting the day-to-day footwear manufacturing and production process
• Working closely with the production team to ensure work is completed accurately and on time

Essential Requirements:

• Matric / National Senior Certificate
• Computer literacy
• Prior exposure to CAD, design or similar technical software at school level
• A basic understanding of computer-aided design principles
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately
• Good practical and technical aptitude
• Reliable, punctual and hard-working
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• A genuine interest in developing practical and technical skills
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team

Advantageous
Exposure to any of the following would be beneficial, but is not required:

• ShoeMaster or other footwear CAD software
• Zünd or other digital cutting systems
• CNC machines, laser cutters or similar computer-controlled equipment
• Pattern making or technical drawing
• Engineering Graphics & Design (EGD)
• Footwear, textiles, clothing, leatherwork, or manufacturing

Opportunity to Develop

We are looking for someone who is dependable, technically curious, eager to learn, and able to take initiative, with pride in accurate, hands-on work.

Employment type: Six-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for permanent employment thereafter

Salary: R10,000 – R15,000 per month, depending on skills and relevant experience

Pay: R10 000,00 - R15 000,00 per month
