Junior Designer

Junior Designer in a joinery company:

• Produce detailed joinery drawings using CAD software (such as AutoCAD or Cabinet Vision).
• Assist in designing custom furniture, cabinetry, kitchens, wardrobes, and other joinery products.
• Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
• Prepare manufacturing and workshop drawings for production.
• Create cutting lists, material schedules, and hardware specifications.
• Support senior designers with project development and design revisions.
• Ensure designs comply with company standards, building regulations, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with the production team to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
• Communicate with project managers, estimators, and installers regarding design details.
• Update drawings based on client feedback or site measurements.
• Assist with site visits to verify dimensions and gather project information when required.
• Maintain accurate design documentation and project files.
• Research new materials, finishes, fittings, and joinery trends.
• Help resolve design-related issues during manufacturing and installation.
• Ensure projects are completed within deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Key Skills

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, SolidWorks, SketchUp, or Microvellum).
• Understanding of joinery construction methods and materials.
• Ability to read technical and architectural drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Time management and organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and CNC production is an advantage.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new design software and industry practices.

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Somerset West, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education:

• Diploma (Preferred)

Experience:

• AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, SolidWorks, SketchUp, ect.: 1 year (Required)

Language:

• English and Afrikaans (Required)

License/Certification:

• driver's license (Required)

Willingness to travel:

• 25% (Required)
