About the role

The Junior DevOps Engineer is responsible for assisting in the development, automation, deployment, and operational support of software platforms and infrastructure. This role focuses on improving development efficiency, maintaining reliable environments, and supporting CI/CD pipelines while gaining practical experience across cloud platforms, automation, monitoring, and infrastructure management.

Key Responsibilities

DevOps & Automation

• Assist with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Support automated software deployments across development, testing, and production environments.
• Help automate repetitive operational tasks using scripting and workflow tools.
• Assist in maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Support cloud-based infrastructure (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• Assist with virtual machines, containers and cloud services.
• Monitor cloud resource utilisation and availability.
• Help manage development and testing environments.

System Monitoring

• Monitor application health and infrastructure.
• Investigate alerts and assist with incident resolution.
• Escalate issues when required.
• Assist with performance tuning and optimisation.

Development Support

• Work closely with software developers to improve deployment processes.

• Assist in troubleshooting application deployment issues.

• Support API integrations between business systems.

• Participate in release planning and deployments.

• Security & Compliance

• Follow secure development and deployment practices.

• Assist with patch management.

• Support backup and disaster recovery testing.

• Ensure environments comply with company security standards.

Documentation

• Maintain technical documentation.
• Document deployment procedures.
• Create operational runbooks.
• Record infrastructure changes.

• Basic Linux administration

• Exposure to software development or systems administration.
• Personal projects or GitHub portfolio would be advantageous.
