Junior Estimator

The purpose of the Junior Estimator role is to assist in the preparation of accurate cost estimates, quotations, tenders, and technical pricing for pump refurbishment, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance projects.

The incumbent will support the estimating and commercial team by gathering pricing information, reviewing technical specifications, preparing preliminary cost calculations, and assisting with tender documentation Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing quotations and tenders for pump refurbishment and supply projects.
• Interpret client specifications, RFQs, and technical drawings.
• Obtain supplier quotations for materials, subcontractors, and services.
• Compile preliminary pricing schedules and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Prepare cost comparisons and supplier evaluations.
• Assist in compiling commercial and technical tender submissions.
• Assist in estimating:
• Labour hours
• Material requirements
• Machining costs
• Transport and logistics
• Installation and commissioning costs
• Update costing spreadsheets and estimating databases.
• Assist with analysing project profitability and costing trends.
• Support senior estimators with final commercial submissions.
• Liaise with workshop, engineering, procurement, and project teams.
• Assist with compiling technical proposal documentation.
• Maintain tender registers and pricing records.
• Support project handovers once orders are awarded.
• Assist with variation orders and additional scope pricing where required.
• Filing and maintaining quotation records.
• Following up supplier pricing and lead times.
• Assisting with monthly reporting and forecasting.
• Maintaining accurate project costing documentation.
• Updating project schedules and estimating trackers.

Mechanical Engineering Diploma / Trade Qualification advantageous

Experience

1–3 years estimating or technical administration experience

Industry

Engineering / Pumps / Mechanical / Water industry advantageous

Computer Skills

MS Excel, Word, Outlook

Software Advantage

Sage, ERP systems, AutoCAD exposure advantageous
