Junior Finance Clerk
Location: Durban
Employment Type: 6 month contract
Department: Finance
Reporting To: Financial Manager
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated, organised and detail-oriented Junior Finance Clerk to join our team. The successful candidate will assist the Financial Manager with day-to-day financial functions, supplier management, inventory and customer equipment administration, statutory compliance, and general office administration.

Key Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices and reconcile them to supplier statements.
- Process company credit card transactions and ensure all supporting slips and documentation are accounted for.
- Maintain and update the supplier database.
- Prepare and place purchase orders with the factory.
- Monitor and follow up on shipments once orders have been placed.
- Document receipt of shipments and equipment received from suppliers or customers.
- Arrange delivery of equipment to customers as required.
- Ensure all relevant documentation is received, accurately recorded and filed in accordance with audit requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and electronic filing relating to stock and equipment.
- Compile payment packs and supporting documentation for payments to foreign suppliers.
- Follow up on outstanding debtors and provide regular updates to management.
- Assist the Financial Manager with statutory audit requirements, particularly documentation relating to supplier invoices and inventory.
- Maintain procurement schedules and obtain relevant supplier certificates for BBBEE audit requirements.
- Handle customer queries received telephonically and electronically and ensure they are dealt with promptly and professionally.
- Assist with general office administration and maintaining a clean and organised office environment.
- Monitor office cleaning requirements and liaise with the office cleaner where necessary.
- Ensure the boardroom is prepared for meetings, presentations and training sessions.
- Compile meeting minutes when required.
- Assist the Financial Manager in maintaining the organisation's financial systems and ensuring compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other general finance and administrative duties as reasonably required.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- A Diploma, Higher Certificate or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, Financial Management or a related field will be advantageous.
- A relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification will be considered an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial administration.
- Computer literacy, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with accounting or ERP software will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of supplier reconciliations, invoicing and basic financial processes will be advantageous.
Experience Requirements
- 1–2 years' experience in a finance, accounting, bookkeeping, creditors, procurement or administration environment is preferred.
- Experience processing supplier invoices and reconciliations will be advantageous.
- Exposure to inventory, stock or equipment administration will be advantageous.
- Previous experience working with audit documentation or compliance requirements will be an advantage.
- Experience in a customer-facing or administrative role will be beneficial.
