Izzat Technologies (Pty) Ltd is a small and emerging technology consulting company based in East London, Eastern Cape. With a current headcount of fewer than 20 employees, the company operates in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment where each team member plays a meaningful and visible role in the organization’s success. The business combines technology-enabled solutions with professional financial and consulting services and is at an exciting stage of scaling its operations and governance structures.

The Junior Financial Manager will be one of the most senior finance professionals in the business and will therefore operate with a high degree of ownership and responsibility relative to the role's title and experience profile.

1. ROLE PURPOSE & MANDATE

The Junior Financial Manager is responsible for the full financial management function of Izzat Technologies. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the incumbent will manage the end- to-end finance, tax compliance, statutory reporting, and management accounting functions of the business. In a company of this size, the role requires a hands-on generalist who is equally comfortable processing transactions, preparing management accounts, engaging with external auditors, and ensuring that all statutory obligations are met timeously.

This is a high-impact role with direct visibility to the CFO and executive leadership, offering an exceptional platform for accelerated professional growth within a fast-moving technology environment.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 2.1
Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Maintain the full general ledger and chart of accounts using the company's accounting system.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts for review by the CFO.
  • Perform all balance sheet reconciliations, including bank, debtors, creditors, and inter- company accounts.
  • Manage the fixed asset register and calculate depreciation in accordance with the applicable accounting framework.
  • Prepare annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS for SMEs or applicable South African accounting standards.
  • Coordinate and support the external audit process, including preparation of audit files and resolution of auditor queries.

2.2
Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and submit bi-monthly or monthly VAT returns (VAT201) on SARS eFiling; perform VAT reconciliations to the general ledger.
  • Prepare and submit provisional tax returns (IRP6) and annual income tax returns (ITR14) for the company.
  • Calculate and submit monthly PAYE, SDL, and UIF declarations (EMP201) and ensure timely payment to SARS.
  • Prepare and submit the annual EMP501 reconciliation and generate IRP5/IT3(a) employee tax certificates.
  • Ensure timely payment of all tax liabilities to avoid penalties and interest under the Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011.
  • Manage all SARS correspondence, assessments, audits, and requests for supporting information.
  • Assist with the preparation of deferred tax calculations and income tax disclosures for the annual financial statements.
  • Maintain and update eFiling profiles and ensure all tax reference numbers and banking details are current.

2.3
CIPC & Company Secretarial Compliance

  • File annual returns and maintain statutory records on the CIPC e-Services portal.
  • Update company registers for director changes, registered addresses, and share allotments as required.
  • Monitor CIPC compliance deadlines and maintain a forward-looking compliance calendar.
  • Assist with any company secretarial matters required by the CFO or board.

2.4
Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Prepare and maintain weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts for review by the CFO.
  • Manage day-to-day banking, including payments, receipts, and bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor debtors and creditors age analysis; follow up on outstanding invoices and manage payment terms.
  • Assist the CFO with working capital management and short-term liquidity planning.

2.5
Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Assist the CFO in the preparation of the annual budget and rolling forecasts.
  • Monitor actual expenditure against budget; identify and explain material variances.
  • Prepare cost analyses and financial models to support business decisions and proposals.
  • Support the CFO with financial input for client proposals, tenders, and contract pricing.

2.6
Internal Controls & Governance

  • Design and maintain an appropriate internal control environment for a business of this size.
  • Implement and enforce financial policies and procedures across the organisation.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend mitigating controls to the CFO.
  • Ensure compliance with the Companies Act 71 of 2008 and other applicable legislation.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the company's HR policy framework insofar as it relates to remuneration and financial governance.

Systems & Technology

  • Manage and optimise the company's accounting software platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology and automation to improve finance function efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate and organised digital records in compliance with SARS record-keeping requirements.

3. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualification

BCom Honours in Accounting, Financial Management, or Taxation

Advantageous

SAIPA membership; Postgraduate Diploma in Taxation

Experience

1 to 2 years in an accounting, tax, or audit environment; experience in an SME or practice environment is highly advantageous

Systems

SARS eFiling; CIPC e-Services; Sage, Xero, or Pastel (any); proficient in MS Excel

Other Requirements

Valid South African driver's licence; own transport advantageous; must be available for occasional after-hours work during audit and tax deadline periods

4. COMPETENCIES

4.1
Technical Competencies

  • Sound knowledge of IFRS for SMEs and South African GAAP principles.
  • Working knowledge of the Income Tax Act, Value-Added Tax Act, and Tax Administration Act.
  • Understanding of PAYE, SDL, UIF, and payroll tax obligations under South African legislation.
  • Familiarity with the Companies Act 71 of 2008 and CIPC compliance requirements.
  • Ability to prepare financial statements, management accounts, and tax computations independently.
  • Competence in cash flow management and basic financial modelling.
