The Role

Most of our clients bring their own creative agency to the table, with a concept and artwork already locked in. Our job is to make sure that artwork works on our sites. That means checking it against print specs, resizing and adapting it for the structure in question, and mocking it up so clients can see exactly how it will look before it goes up.

Alongside that, you will handle the design work that is genuinely ours to create, from proposal documents and presentations to our own marketing collateral.

We are looking for a Junior Graphic Designer to join our team in Johannesburg. This is a hands on production role, well suited to someone who wants a close up view of how out-of-home advertising actually comes together.

You will work closely with the marketing and sales teams, supporting everything from client proposals to event collateral.

What You'll Be DoingDesign and artwork

• General DTP and design work across print and digital
• Design of Alliance Media's own advertising for magazines and other publications
• Design of web banners for social media
• Design of email templates for special events and campaigns
• Working within agreed brand and corporate identity guidelines

Site and structure work

• Drawing and completing site sketches
• Checking client and agency supplied artwork against our print specs, and resizing or adapting it as needed
• Superimposing client and agency supplied creative onto indoor, outdoor and airport structures for sign off and presentation
• Visualising how creative will look on site before installation

Presentations and proposals

• Building PowerPoint presentations for client pitches
• Developing superimposition mockups for proposals and documents
• Designing maps and supporting artwork for presentation decks

Marketing and events support

• Assisting the marketing department with events coordination and collateral

What We're Looking For

• A relevant qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or a related field
• One to two years' experience in a graphic design role, ideally within advertising, media or a related industry
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
• Working knowledge of PowerPoint for building client facing presentations
• A sharp eye for layout, typography and brand consistency
• Ability to manage multiple design briefs at once and meet tight deadlines
• Strong attention to detail across print, digital and large format media
• A collaborative mindset, open to direction and to contributing your own ideas
• A portfolio demonstrating relevant design work
