Junior Guesthouse Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic, articulate and trustworthy person, with a passion for hospitality, to join our wonderful team at our boutique 4* guest house in a full-time role.

The Junior Manager will support the General Manager with daily operations of the guest house, ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction, quality of service and attention to detail in all aspects of their role.

Hospitality industry and/or guest relations experience welcomed but not essential.

Salary is based upon experience.

Living accommodation is not supplied and must be able to commute easily and live within a 20 minute drive of Franschhoek.

Candidate must be computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Office)

Must be willing to work weekends and late shifts on a rotating roster with the GM.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assisting the General Manager with:

• Guest Relations: facilitating check-ins and check-outs efficiently with any out-of-hours requests being covered on an individual ad-hoc basis. Addressing special requests in a timely manner. Helping to book restaurant reservations, tours and transfers as required. Offering guests a warm and friendly service and providing informed recommendations on wine farms, tours, restaurants, activities and transport options.
• Staff: keeping a happy and harmonious atmosphere amongst the team. Assisting with staff uniform. Assisting any of the other staff with their duties if the need arises. Promoting a professional and high service level.
• Bedrooms: working with the Supervisor to oversee and ensure rooms and public areas are maintained before each check-in and meet high standards. Work with the GM on monthly inspections and taking notes and following up actions.
• Breakfast: when on early duty, support breakfast service and ensure quality, consistency and guest satisfaction. Make sure all special diets are advised to the team at least one day before any guest check-in and ensure we have the provisions to meet their needs.
• Repairs & Maintenance: keep a log of all required repairs and maintenance and ensure the target completion date is met.
• Stock: maintaining an efficient stock management system with the GM and Supervisor and assisting with ordering and deliveries.
• Representing the guesthouse at all times in a positive and professional manner
• Assisting the GM with various guest house administration
• Community engagement: supporting established relationships with local businesses and community organisations to boost the guest house’s reputation and visibility.
