SAHETI School is an independent, co-educational, English-medium school dedicated to the
pursuit of excellence, while promoting the ethos and values of Hellenism. The school is situated
in Senderwood, Bedfordview.
SAHETI School is seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and suitably qualified Junior
History, Social Sciences and Geography Teacher to join our academic team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching History, Social Sciences and
Geography to learners in the relevant phase, while fostering a positive learning environment
that promotes curiosity, critical thinking and academic excellence. The ideal applicant should
demonstrate a passion for education, strong organisational skills and the ability to engage and
inspire young learners.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- An appropriate teaching qualification recognised in South Africa.
- Current and valid SACE and Police clearance certificate
- Proven experience in teaching History, Social Sciences and Geography within the high school phase.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the IEB
- Excellent classroom management and administrative skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to the wider school community.
- A commitment to the ethos, values and high academic standards of SAHETI School.
- Proficiency in the use of educational technology will be advantageous.
- Ability to teach an additional high school subject will be advantageous.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons aligned with the IEB
curriculum.
- Teach History, Social Sciences, and Geography to Grades 8–9 learners.
- Apply a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Integrate technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning.
Assessment and Academic Monitoring:
- Design, administer, and mark assessments in accordance with school and IEB
standards.
- Monitor and evaluate learner progress and implement intervention strategies where
necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of learner performance and provide meaningful feedback.
Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Promote discipline, respect, and a culture of learning.
- Encourage learner participation, independence, and critical thinking.
Administration:
- Maintain up-to-date academic records and reports.
- Complete all required administrative duties within specified timelines.
- Participate in departmental planning and moderation processes.
School Involvement:
- Actively participate in school events, meetings, and initiatives.
- Contribute to the extra-curricular programme.
- Assist with admissions processes and support school marketing initiatives.
- Uphold and promote the ethos and values of SAHETI School.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate effectively with learners, parents, and colleagues.
- Provide feedback on academic performance and learner wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively within the department and across the school.
