Job Title: Learning and Development Specialist

Location: 2 Lascelles Road, Meadowbrook, Edenvale

Hours: 08:00 - 17:00 weekdays

Reporting to: HR Manager

Job Overview

The Learning and Development Specialist will be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training and development initiatives across the organisation. The role includes conducting new employee orientation and onboarding programmes, facilitating skills and workplace assessments, developing engaging online learning content, and providing support to the Human Resources department to ensure the ongoing development of employees and organisational capability.

Key Responsibilities

Learning & Development

  • Conduct skills-based assessments to identify individual and organisational training needs.
  • Facilitate and support workplace assessments.
  • Design, develop, and deliver training interventions that support business objectives.
  • Create engaging online learning material, assessments, and development programmes.
  • Maintain accurate training records, reports, and learning documentation.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives.

Orientation & Onboarding

  • Plan and facilitate all new employee orientation and onboarding training.
  • Ensure new employees understand company policies, procedures, systems, and organisational culture.
  • Provide support and guidance to new employees during the onboarding process.

Training Delivery

  • Facilitate internal training sessions, workshops, and development programmes.
  • Support ongoing employee learning and development initiatives.
  • Assist with the implementation of skills development and training strategies.

HR Support

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the HR department as required.
  • Assist with ad hoc HR-related projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with HR and management teams to support employee development objectives.

Requirements

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and planning abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management systems is advantageous.

Education and Experience

  • BCom Degree or similar qualification in Human Resources, Learning and Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Learning and Development or Human Resources.
  • Experience conducting skills-based and workplace assessments.
  • Experience facilitating training programmes and workshops.

Advantageous Qualifications

  • Specialisation or certification in Learning and Development.
  • Experience developing online learning content and assessments.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
