Position: Junior Lock up Ranger / Skipper

Century City, Cape Town

Are you passionate about nature, conservation, and people? Intaka Island — the green heart of Century City — is looking for an enthusiastic Junior Ranger / Skipper to join our dynamic environmental team!

What You’ll Do

As a Junior Lock up Ranger / Skipper, you’ll play a vital role in connecting visitors to nature by:

• Leading guided tours of Intaka Island and the Century City Canals.
• Welcoming guests, handling enquiries, and managing reception duties.
• Supporting the environmental education programme and assisting with learning materials.
• Helping with the upkeep of the Eco-Centre and beautiful natural surroundings.
• Skippering ferries safely and ensuring compliance with boating regulations.
• Conducting bird counts, wetland maintenance, and reporting activities.
• Assisting with venue setup and environmental division functions.

What We’re Looking For

If you have a love for the environment, a flair for guiding, and a commitment to great service, we’d love to meet you!

Minimum Requirements:

• Fluent in English (Afrikaans an advantage)
• South African citizen with a valid ID
• Willing and able to:
• Work shifts (07h30–16h30, including some weekends on a shift rotation)
• Travel to and from work independently
• Undergo training in various skills
• Perform lock-up duties.
• Keen interest in tour guiding, conservation and environmental education
