Position: Junior Lock up Ranger / Skipper
Century City, Cape Town
Are you passionate about nature, conservation, and people? Intaka Island — the green heart of Century City — is looking for an enthusiastic Junior Ranger / Skipper to join our dynamic environmental team!
What You’ll Do
As a Junior Lock up Ranger / Skipper, you’ll play a vital role in connecting visitors to nature by:
- Leading guided tours of Intaka Island and the Century City Canals.
- Welcoming guests, handling enquiries, and managing reception duties.
- Supporting the environmental education programme and assisting with learning materials.
- Helping with the upkeep of the Eco-Centre and beautiful natural surroundings.
- Skippering ferries safely and ensuring compliance with boating regulations.
- Conducting bird counts, wetland maintenance, and reporting activities.
- Assisting with venue setup and environmental division functions.
What We’re Looking For
If you have a love for the environment, a flair for guiding, and a commitment to great service, we’d love to meet you!
Minimum Requirements:
- Fluent in English (Afrikaans an advantage)
- South African citizen with a valid ID
- Willing and able to:
- Work shifts (07h30–16h30, including some weekends on a shift rotation)
- Travel to and from work independently
- Undergo training in various skills
- Perform lock-up duties.
- Keen interest in tour guiding, conservation and environmental education
