Junior Operations Assistant

Sky Freight is looking for a motivated, reliable and energetic Junior Operations Assistant to join our growing logistics team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being out in the field while also assisting with office administration.

Purpose of the position:

To support the daily operations by efficiently managing document and cargo collections, attending inspections and assisting with administrative tasks, to ensure smooth and timely logistics operations.

Minimum requirements:

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Minimum 2 years proven administration experience
• Willing to travel locally throughout Cape Town during the workday
• Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
• Good verbal and written English communication skills (additional languages are advantageous)
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Willingness to learn and grow within the freight forwarding and logistics industry
• Previous logistics, courier, customs, or administrative experience will be advantageous but is not essential
• Fully computer literate on the MS Office package
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence is essential
• Clear criminal record

Responsibilities:

• Deliver and collect documents from clients, shipping lines, customs, depots and other service providers.
• Attend customs, port health and other cargo inspections when required.
• Collect and deliver cargo, samples and urgent shipments.
• Assist with customs and freight forwarding administration.
• Capture and update information accurately on the company operating system.
• Prepare, scan, file and organize shipping documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections and documentation.
• Communicate professionally with clients, suppliers and government authorities.
• Perform general office and operational support duties as required.
• Learn and work efficiently on the company's freight forwarding software and internal systems.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, etc.
• Vehicle maintenance
