JUNIOR PAYROLL CLERK – HEAD OFFICE PAYROLL TEAM
Holdsport Group | Cape Town CBD
Holdsport Group is a national sporting goods retail group, operating the Sportsmans Warehouse and Outdoor Warehouse chains across South Africa.
We are looking for an accurate and deadline-driven individual to join our Payroll team as a Junior Payroll Clerk, based at our Head Office in Cape Town CBD. This position reports directly to the Payroll Manager.
What We're Looking For
- Strong numerical and administrative accuracy
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high standard of record keeping
- Able to work to strict payroll deadlines and published pay dates
- Clear and professional communicator (written and verbal)
- Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality over remuneration information
Key Responsibilities
- Processing weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and within the payroll calendar
- Capturing and verifying time and attendance, overtime, commission, allowances and deductions against authorised source documents
- Capturing appointments, terminations, transfers and remuneration adjustments on the payroll system
- Processing leave transactions and maintaining accurate leave records
- Processing third-party deductions and payments against authorised schedules
- Issuing payslips and maintaining the payroll records required by the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, 75 of 1997
- Responding to employee payroll queries and explaining payslips, deductions and leave balances
- Processing employee information strictly in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013
Requirements
- Matric (essential)
- Certificate or diploma in payroll administration, finance or human resources (advantageous)
- Payroll processing or payroll support experience
- Experience on a recognised payroll system and intermediate Microsoft Excel
- A working understanding of PAYE, UIF and SDL, and of third-party deductions and payments
- A working knowledge of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, 75 of 1997, in particular hours of work, overtime and leave
- Experience on a high-volume weekly payroll will be an advantage
