Junior Plant Controller
Department

Plant Controller / Plant Manager
Job Purpose
The Junior Plant Controller assists in the effective coordination, monitoring, maintenance, and administration of the company's plant and equipment fleet. The role ensures that plant and equipment are available, safe, compliant, and efficiently allocated to meet operational requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlant Administration
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of all plant and equipment.
- Capture and update equipment movements, utilization, and availability.
- Maintain plant files, inspection records, and service histories.
- Process plant-related documentation, including inspection checklists and service reports.
Equipment Allocation
- Assist in scheduling and allocating plant and equipment to projects.
- Monitor equipment availability and communicate with site personnel.
- Coordinate the delivery and collection of plant equipment.
Maintenance Coordination
- Schedule routine servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Report breakdowns and coordinate repairs with maintenance personnel.
- Follow up on outstanding repairs and maintenance activities.
- Monitor equipment downtime and report recurring issues.
Compliance
- Ensure plant inspections are completed as required.
- Monitor licensing, registrations, and certification expiry dates.
- Ensure operators submit pre-use inspection checklists.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with company policies and health and safety requirements.
Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly plant utilization reports.
- Record equipment downtime.
- Assist with plant performance reporting and data analysis.
Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
- Promote safe work practices.
- Ensure defective equipment is reported and removed from service where necessary.
Experience
- 3-5 years' experience in plant control, fleet administration, logistics, or equipment management.
- Experience in the construction, mining, civil engineering, or plant hire industry is advantageous.
Knowledge
- Plant utilization and scheduling.
- Health and Safety requirements.
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
