This role offers the opportunity to expand your nursing experience into a research environment focused on improving child health outcomes. The Centre for Child and Adolescent Lung Health is looking for a Junior Research Nurse to join a dynamic team working with infants, children, and mothers in clinical research.
 This role is offered under the University of Cape Town Lung Instituteâs own employment terms and conditions, which are separate from UCT conditions of service. POSITION INFO: â What you bring: Diploma or Degree in Nursing + SANC registration Experience in paediatrics (and\/or midwifery) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to stay organised and work in a fast-paced environment Confidence using computers and capturing clinical data Your clinical foundation will support research that advances care for infants and children in both hospital and community settings.  ð¯ What youâll own: Providing nursing care to study participants (infants, children, and mothers) Supporting recruitment of participants for clinical trials and cohort studies Performing clinical procedures (phlebotomy, sample collection, vital signs, etc.) Administering routine vaccinations Assisting with data collection, questionnaires, and electronic data capture Supporting stock control, consumables, and clinical readiness Working closely with nurses, doctors, counsellors, and research teams Your day-to-day work will support research that improves early-life health outcomes and strengthens care for children and families.  ð
- Where youâll grow Gain exposure to clinical research processes and protocols Build confidence in working with paediatric and infant populations Develop skills in data quality, research procedures, and teamwork Work across both hospital and clinic environments ð Role Information: Fixed Term Contract (12 Months) Monday to Friday | 40 hours per week Based across Red Cross Hospital, Rondebosch & includes travel to local clinics ⳠClosing Date: 26 June 2026 Thank you for your interest in this opportunity.
