Junior Service Project Engineer

Introduction

Komatsu South Africa is seeking a Junior Service Project Engineer to join the Part Distribution Centre at the Germiston. The successful candidate should have a B. Eng/B Tech in Industrial Engineering and minimum a of 2 years or more in the Komatsu or an external equivalent engineering training program.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years or more in Komatsu or an external equivalent engineering training program

Other requirements:

• Microsoft Office (Intermediate)
• Valid Driver’s license (required)

Summary description of role:

1. Safety, Health & Environment role contents

• Making recommendations or implementing changes to comply with legislation.

2. Engineering Project Management:

• Drafting project proposals/rationales
• Executing feasibility studies
• Establishing project objectives, project scope and project overall budget in conjunction with leadership
• Liaising with internal key stakeholders and project owners
• Estimating timelines
• Determining enablers
• Participating in resource planning
• Identifying project risk(s)
• Arranging project management activities–including committees, roles, infrastructure, communication channels, team training
• Assisting in drafting a change management & communication plan
• Compiling & disseminating project meeting documents
• Updating project plans as project rolls-out
• Communicating shared understanding across teams, key stakeholders and changing targets
• Liaising with leadership on deviations identified

3. Liaison & Change Management:

• Disseminating information, educating employees, especially internal leadership/staff in the use of CI tools & techniques
• Support the 5S program within Operations
• Arranging training sessions (if required)
• Providing input into the compilation of/updating manuals/procedures and other relevant documentation
• Providing regular feedback to internal customers

4. Internal Process and Systems Improvement Projects - Service & Support Operations

• Suggesting standards & procedures for customer support, as well as product type support standards
• Following up on customer visit / regular meeting plans as per strategy document/plan
• Collaborating with internal divisions, such as own team, Operations, Parts, Training, CI, Reman and HR
• Monitoring SOP details and accuracy and being up to date
• Facilitating information flow to internal customers for resolution of issues
• Conducting studies for purposes of efficiency and elimination of waste
• Maintaining business process models & process management system
• Participating in troubleshooting with key stakeholders and Service Project Engineer
• Developing future state models with customer and project leader
• Disseminate information on service operations
• Arranges for training and/or skills transfer
• Receiving instructions from the Service Project Engineer as to what is required/to be performed
• Conducting analysis of machine KPI’s / condition and establish improvement activity such as reviewing maintenance schedule, maintenance quality, Operations capability, parts/component planning & skills assessment
• Liaise with internal stakeholders
• Identifying service gaps, issues and problems for purposes of continuous improvements
• Executing project activities on focus sites while monitoring project KPI’s
• Analyzing customer operations using Komtrax Plus and Modular Mining Systems data
• Recording actions and event dates relating to projects e.g., engine trial start/new product trial
• Visualizing current trends/performance, e.g., PLM analysis, Fuel consumption analysis etc.
