Job description

SA Power is looking for a Junior Service Technician to join our Cape Town branch.

This role is ideal for a recently qualified Electrician or Millwright who has completed an apprenticeship and is looking to gain practical experience in industrial automation. You will work alongside experienced technicians, gaining hands-on experience in fault-finding, repairs, technical support and customer service while developing your technical skills.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist with on-site technical service and support on SA Power service-related products.
  • Assist with fault-finding, upgrades and on-site installations.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and basic mechanical faults under the guidance of senior technicians where required.
  • Assist with technical projects once they have been handed over to the Service Team.
  • Provide technical support to customers both on-site and telephonically.
  • Complete job cards, timesheets and logbooks accurately and timeously.
  • Assist with preparing service quotations.
  • Build and maintain professional customer relationships while promoting SA Power's products, services and training.
  • Travel within the region to provide customer support and attend site visits.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12.
  • Qualified Electrician or Millwright with a recognised Trade Test Certificate.
  • Recently completed an apprenticeship and obtained a Trade Test Certificate.
  • Sound electrical fault-finding skills, including hardwired control circuits.
  • A willingness to learn and develop within the industrial automation industry.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including overtime and occasional weekends when required.
