Job description
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior IT Systems Engineer to join our growing IT team. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining and supporting the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring systems remain secure, reliable, and available. This role is ideal for someone looking to expand their technical skills while working alongside experienced IT professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first and second-line technical support to users.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows desktop and server environments.
- Support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
- Monitor and maintain servers, storage, and network infrastructure.
- Assist with Active Directory user administration, Group Policy, and permissions.
- Configure and troubleshoot network devices, including switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Perform hardware and software installations, upgrades, and replacements.
- Monitor system performance and resolve infrastructure-related incidents.
- Assist with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
- Maintain accurate IT documentation, asset registers, and system configurations.
- Participate in IT projects, system upgrades, and technology rollouts.
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies and security best practices.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 1–3 years' experience in an IT support or systems engineering role.
- Experience supporting Windows Server and Windows 10/11 environments.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration.
- Basic understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi).
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware is advantageous.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure is beneficial.
- Knowledge of backup solutions and endpoint security software.
- Valid driver's licence is advantageous.
