Job description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Tax Consultant to join our professional accounting and tax practice. The successful candidate will assist with a broad range of individual and corporate tax compliance matters and will work extensively on SARS eFiling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and submission of Individual Income Tax Returns (ITR12)
- Preparation and submission of Company Income Tax Returns (ITR14)
- Preparation and submission of Provisional Tax Returns (IRP6)
- Preparation and submission of VAT201 returns
- Preparation of VAT reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Registration and activation of tax types on SARS eFiling
- Assisting with VAT registrations, Income Tax registrations and deregistrations
- Handling SARS correspondence, verification requests and supporting document submissions
- Assisting with Notices of Objection, Requests for Remission and Requests for Reasons
- Assisting with SARS disputes and follow-ups
- Tax Clearance Status / Tax Compliance Status applications
- Updating and maintaining taxpayer information on SARS eFiling
- Assisting with registered representative matters
- Reviewing SARS statements of account and identifying outstanding returns or balances
- Communicating with SARS and clients regarding outstanding tax matters
- Maintaining accurate tax files, supporting documentation and working papers
- General tax administration and compliance duties
Minimum Requirements:
- Basic understanding of South African taxation
- Familiarity with SARS eFiling
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and work on multiple client matters
- Willingness to learn and develop within the tax profession
Advantageous:
- Experience preparing ITR12, ITR14, IRP6 or VAT201 returns
- Experience dealing directly with SARS
- Knowledge of tax objections, remissions, verifications and dispute processes
- Previous experience within an accounting or tax practice
