Summary of role: The Tool Room Controller will be responsible for the Tool Store controlling and must apply technical background/knowledge to manage the tools maintenance.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Daily issuing of Tools and Tool Consumables to Production.
- Daily receipt and inspection / testing of Tools and their consumables.
- Basic maintenance on hand tools as per user manuals and tool consumable exchange activities.
- Ensure that new tools are registered, labelled and stored according to requirements.
- Ensure that tools grouped in Toolboxes and/ or Containers are inspected prior to storage.
- Ensure that the Tool Store is well organised and kept clean.
- Ensure that the Tool Store is secured (locked) at all times.
- Daily monitoring of the Tool Report and reporting on Tools not returned and / submitted to Maintenance.
- Reporting of Tool Breakdowns to Maintenance.
- Weekly reporting on tool breakdown causes and possible solutions.
- Reporting of missing tools / damaged tools; and processing of required documentation for replacement.
- Participate in Continual Improvement initiatives.
- Train operators on proper use of tools and equipment.
- Monthly audit on Tool Store.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric (essential)
- 2-5 years experience in store/warehouse/logistic control (essential)
- 2-5 years experience with tools (technical understanding, maintenance)
- Experience in production within the steel and engineering industry and/or the industrial trailer environment (beneficial)
- Computer Literacy: MS Office (essential)
- Syspro or similar ERP software (beneficial)
