We are seeking a passionate, polished, and customer-focused Retail Consultant to join the Ladurée team in South Africa.

Role Overview

The Retail Consultant is responsible for delivering an exceptional Ladurée experience to every customer while achieving retail sales targets and maintaining the Maison's high standards of presentation and service.

You will act as a brand ambassador, combining warm hospitality with strong product knowledge and a genuine passion for luxury retail, food, and French culture.

Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Experience

• Welcome and engage customers in a warm, professional, and personalised manner.
• Deliver a consistently elevated level of customer service in line with Ladurée's luxury positioning.
• Understand customers' needs and provide thoughtful product recommendations.
• Create memorable experiences for local and international guests.
• Handle customer queries, feedback, and complaints professionally and efficiently.
• Develop strong relationships with regular customers and encourage customer loyalty.

Sales & Commercial Performance

• Achieve and, where possible, exceed individual and store sales targets.
• Actively promote Ladurée products, gifting solutions, seasonal collections, and special offerings.
• Use effective suggestive-selling and cross-selling techniques.
• Identify opportunities to increase average transaction value.
• Maintain an excellent understanding of products, pricing, promotions, and availability.
• Support the achievement of key retail performance indicators.

Product Knowledge

• Develop comprehensive knowledge of Ladurée's macarons, pastries, chocolates, confectionery, beverages, gifting collections, and other products.
• Confidently communicate product ingredients, flavours, characteristics, and appropriate storage or handling information.
• Understand and communicate allergen information accurately and responsibly.
• Keep up to date with new product launches, seasonal ranges, and Maison initiatives.

Boutique Standards

• Maintain impeccable personal presentation and grooming standards.
• Ensure the boutique and product displays consistently reflect Ladurée's luxury aesthetic.
• Assist with merchandising, replenishment, stock rotation, and inventory control.
• Ensure products are displayed, packaged, and presented according to Ladurée standards.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, cash-handling, and operational procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming sales environment.

Teamwork & Operations

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver seamless boutique operations.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Process customer transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system.
• Support stock counts, deliveries, and stockroom organisation.
• Communicate effectively with the Boutique Manager and wider team.
• Support special events, activations, corporate orders, and gifting initiatives where required.

Requirements

• Previous experience in luxury retail, premium hospitality, fashion, beauty, food & beverage, or a similarly customer-focused environment.
• Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
• Strong sales and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal communication skills in English.
• Professional, polished, and confident personal presentation.
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for excellence.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
• Comfortable working flexible retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• A genuine interest in premium products, luxury brands, food, and hospitality.

Advantageous

• Experience working for an international or luxury brand.
• Experience in premium food, patisserie, confectionery, or hospitality.
• Additional language skills relevant to South Africa's diverse customer base.
• Experience with point-of-sale systems and retail stock management.
• Knowledge or appreciation of French culture and gastronomy.
