Job description
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain production cloud-based SaaS applications, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability in a 24×7 environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex cross-platform incidents spanning Linux OS, networking, databases, containers, and cloud infrastructure.
- Perform root cause analysis, follow SRE best practices, and collaborate with development teams to resolve and prevent recurring issues.
- Automate operational tasks and manual processes using configuration management and scripting tools.
- Monitor application and infrastructure health, proactively identify performance or stability issues, and implement improvements.
- Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines, application deployments, and release processes.
- Manage and monitor containers, orchestration platforms, databases, and backend infrastructure.
- Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures to ensure knowledge continuity.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience in Application Support, DevOps, SRE, or Systems Engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux system administration (CentOS, RedHat or similar).
- Experience supporting cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Willingness and ability to support 24×7 operations and on-call rotations.
Technical Skills (Core)
Cloud, Containers & Orchestration
- Kubernetes administration (AKS preferred)
- Docker, container registries (ACR / Harbor)
- Helm, Ingress Controllers, Cert Manager
Automation & CI/CD
- Configuration management: Ansible, Salt, Puppet, or Chef
- CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps Pipelines
- Infrastructure as Code exposure (Terraform preferred)
Monitoring, Messaging & Integration
- Logging and monitoring stacks (EFK / ELK)
- Message brokers: Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ
- Load balancing & traffic management (HAProxy)
Databases & Middleware
- Relational databases: Oracle, MySQL
- NoSQL databases: MongoDB
- Middleware & messaging systems (e.g. WebSphere MQ)
Scripting & Development Support
- Scripting languages: Bash, Python (Ruby / Perl an advantage)
- Familiarity with RESTful web services
- Version control: Git
- Issue tracking and collaboration tools (JIRA, Sonar)
Desirable Experience
- Strong understanding of microservices architectures
- Experience with identity and security tools (ForgeRock, HashiCorp Vault)
- Exposure to OpenStack environments
- Building dashboards and proactive monitoring solutions
- Experience debugging application and infrastructure issues in production environments
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: R35 000,00 - R60 000,00 per month
