Job description

1. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

  • Drive cost reduction whilst optimizing resources and meeting resource requirements continuously.
  • Ensure all packaging materials for each batch planned on the Packing Lines are ready at the right time in the correct quantities.
  • Ensure that all materials on job cards are issued accurately and timeously.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures with regard to the receipt, storage, handling, and issuing of packaging materials to the Packing Lines and other departments.
  • Accurate Stock Control through cycle counts, FIFO principles and procedures, SYSPRO/WMS transactions.
  • Adherence to Food Safety, General Manufacturing Principles and Quality Assurance and Quality Control Systems.
  • Drive Quality, Environmental Awareness, Safety, Security and Health in the workplace whilst assessing Risks continuously.
  • People management through applied Human Resource and Industrial Relationship tools, policies, and procedures.

2. SCOPE OF JOB

Independence (Finance)

  • Drive cost reduction whilst optimizing resources and meeting resource requirements continuously.
  • Reduce waste in identifying and eliminating non-value adding activities in the operation through fostering an environment for innovativeness, trial-and-error and use of suggestion boxes and dynamic work teams.
  • Usage of consumables within the set parameters per material and in alignment with the departmental set budget.
  • Eliminate waste in usage of consumables .

Customer Centricity

  • Ensure all packaging materials for each batch planned on the Packing Lines are ready at the right time in the correct quantities.
  • Packaging material to be packed in relevant trays clearly identifiable per line.
  • Ensure all prepared packaging material is verified by the Packing Lines prior to hand over.
  • Ensure that all materials on job cards are issued accurately and timeously.
  • All packaging material prepared must be posted to the jobs in SYSPRO in real time prior to actual packing of the product to ensure that the processing of job cards is not delayed and that the correct stock levels are reflected in the system.

Process

  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures with regard to the receipt, storage, handling, and issuing of packaging materials to the Packing Lines and other departments.
  • Ensure that all packaging materials received from the various departments are verified and discrepancies addressed immediately - Receiving, Consumables and DMD.
  • Ensure that all packaging materials received are stored in a safe manner optimizing the usage of limited s ace in the Packaging Store WH03 .
  • All packaging materials accounted for at all times.
  • Ensure appropriate process followed for ad-hock packaging material requests from Packing and other departments.
  • Ensure appropriate process followed for packaging materials returned.
  • Ensure that correct equipment lock out procedures are followed.
  • Ensure 100% adherence to the daily packing plan.
  • Eliminate over- and under packaging material issues to the Packing Lines through careful and accurate picking and plucking processes and reporting of products where the incorrect packaging material is allocated to the BOM (bill of materials) to Supervisor, Team Leader, or the NPD team.
  • Reduce and or eliminate packaging material losses through adaptation of current packaging material preparation processes to support the Packing operation.
  • The appropriate packaging reports must be completed and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Report all sub-standard packaging material to the Production Supervisor I.
  • Accurate Stock Control through cycle counts, FIFO principles and procedures, SYSPRO/WMS transactions.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures with regard to cycle counts, stock counts, stock rotation, FIFO principles, disposals and SYSPRO/WMS required transactions.
  • Ensure that packaging materials physical location in the warehouses match the material's location in SYSPRO/WMS.
  • Drive Quality, Environmental Awareness, Safety, Security and Health in the workplace whilst assessing Risks continuously.
  • Ensure daily housekeeping is done according to the Master Cleaning Schedule and that inspections are done as per company procedures and all deviations are rectified immediately.
  • Building and infrastructure must be compliant to Food Safety Regulations. All deviations reported and maintenance done to ensure continuous adherence.
  • Ensure that cleaning equipment is used and stored as per Food Safety Regulations.
  • Non-compliance reports to be investigated and actioned immediately. Root causes identified and the appropriate preventative and corrective measures taken and documented.
  • All risks in the operation assessed and reported to Supervisor and or the Health & Safety Committee.

4.QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS LEVEL:

  • Matric and a minimum 1 years' experience within the Food Manufacturing/Processing/ Warehousing Environment or equivalent
  • Good knowledge and experience of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and working in a regulated environment (e.g., Food Industry).
  • Focused on delivering Quality products on time and in full within a regulated food environment.
  • Computer literacy advantageous.
