We are currently looking for a dependable, experienced, and hands-on Landscape Assistant to join our growing team.
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Landscape Assistant who can hit the ground running. In this role, you will work hands-on on site, assist with day-to-day project execution, and help guide our crew. The ideal candidate has an exceptional eye for detail, extensive plant knowledge, and the leadership qualities needed to keep projects running smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Execution: Assist with landscape installation, planting, garden maintenance, site preparation, and hardscaping tasks.
- Plant Care & Identification: Utilize deep knowledge of plant species, soil requirements, watering schedules, pruning techniques, and pest management to ensure high standards of horticultural care.
- Team Leadership: Lead by example on site, direct crew members, coordinate daily tasks, and ensure work is completed to the highest standard of quality and safety.
- Communication & Organization: Coordinate workflow on site, communicate effectively with clients and team members, and manage daily tools, materials, and equipment.
- Logistics & Driving: Safely drive company vehicles to and from sites, transporting plants, tools, and equipment as needed.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven hands-on experience in landscaping, horticulture, or garden design.
- Plant Knowledge: Excellent, practical knowledge of local plants, trees, shrubs, and their growing conditions.
- Leadership: Proven experience acting as a team leader or foreman, with the ability to motivate a crew and manage site operations.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, with a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with clients and team members.
- Reliability: Punctual, trustworthy, and strongly committed to showing up and getting the job done right.
- License: Valid South African Driver's License.
- Documentation: Valid RSA ID.
