Laundry Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on commercial laundry equipment.
• Diagnose and repair washers, dryers, presses, ironers, folders, extractors, and finishing machines.
• Inspect electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems.
• Replace worn or defective components including bearings, belts, motors, pumps, valves, sensors, seals, and heating elements.
• Troubleshoot PLC controls, electrical circuits, and automation systems where applicable.
• Maintain steam boilers, heat exchangers, and hot water systems connected to laundry equipment.
• Lubricate moving parts and perform routine servicing.
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
• Complete maintenance records, work orders, and inspection reports.
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, environmental regulations, and maritime standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized workshop and laundry plant.
• Assist with spare parts inventory and ordering requirements.
• Participate in emergency drills and perform assigned emergency duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, Refrigeration, or Industrial Maintenance preferred.
• 2–5 years of maintenance experience in industrial or commercial laundry equipment.
• Experience with commercial washers, dryers, ironers, and steam systems.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC systems is advantageous.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently under pressure.
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
• Previous maritime or cruise ship experience is an advantage.

Pay: R16 000,00 - R25 000,00 per month
