We are seeking an exceptional Learning Support Coordinator to lead, coordinate and deliver Learning Support provision across our Prep School from January 2027.

This is a wonderfully influential role for someone who combines deep professional knowledge with warmth, curiosity and practical wisdom — someone who understands neurodiversity and learning differences, but who sees the whole child before the diagnosis, report or learning need.

At the heart of the role is a simple purpose: to help students access learning, understand themselves as learners, build confidence and independence, and experience school as a place in which they can thrive.

Minimum Requirements

The person we hope to meet

You are likely to be someone who is both compassionate and highly organised — because this role requires plenty of heart, but also a rather impressive ability to keep many moving parts moving in roughly the same direction.

You build relationships easily and communicate with sensitivity and clarity. You are comfortable facilitating complex conversations and can hold differing perspectives without losing sight of what best serves the student.

You are curious rather than prescriptive. You understand that good Learning Support is not one-size-fits-all and are willing to think creatively when the obvious intervention is not working.

Importantly, you believe in building capacity around students rather than creating dependency on support.

You will bring:

• a relevant teaching qualification;
• additional qualifications or training in Learning Support, Inclusive Education or Special Educational Needs;
• experience supporting students with additional learning needs in a school environment;
• sound knowledge of neurodiversity and evidence-based support practices;
• knowledge of learning differences including dyslexia, ADHD, developmental language difficulties and executive functioning challenges;
• experience interpreting Educational Psychology reports and implementing recommendations;
• an understanding of differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practice;
• experience coordinating support across multiple stakeholders;
• strong written and verbal communication skills;
• excellent organisational and administrative capability; and
• emotional intelligence, initiative, flexibility and a collaborative approach.

Above all, we are looking for someone who can hold two things at once: high expectations for students and deep respect for the different ways in which they learn.

Duties and Responsibilities

The role

Working closely with students, teachers, parents, therapists, facilitators and school leadership, the Learning Support Coordinator will develop and coordinate an inclusive, coherent approach to supporting students with additional learning needs.

This requires someone who can move comfortably between the individual child and the wider system: providing direct support where needed, equipping teachers with practical strategies, helping parents navigate sometimes complex learning journeys, coordinating multidisciplinary support and ensuring that recommendations translate into meaningful everyday practice.

You will:

• support students to develop confidence, self-esteem, self-advocacy and effective learning strategies;
• provide targeted interventions, including Double Stitching lessons to reinforce and consolidate curriculum concepts;
• monitor student progress and adapt interventions as needs evolve;
• facilitate semesterly Social, Emotional & Academic (SEA) meetings with teachers to review student progress and plan appropriate support;
• guide teachers in understanding learning differences and implementing practical, inclusive classroom strategies;
• assist teachers and families in interpreting Educational Psychology reports and translating recommendations into meaningful support;
• coordinate annual handovers to ensure continuity of support as students move between grades;
• build collaborative and trusting relationships with parents and facilitate conversations about student progress and support;
• coordinate and participate in the multidisciplinary Learning Support Team, working alongside the School Counsellor, private Learning Support Teachers, Speech Therapists and Occupational Therapists;
• work closely with facilitators, teachers and families and, where appropriate, develop and monitor Individual Support Plans;
• chair multidisciplinary team meetings involving parents, teachers, facilitators, therapists and other professionals;
• assess students to identify potential barriers to learning and collaborate with teachers on appropriate interventions; and
• oversee assessment accommodations for eligible Intermediate Phase students arising from Educational Psychology recommendations.
