LECTURER (30% Part time)

REQUIREMENTS: BSc Eng/B Eng/BEng and an MSc (Eng) in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Industrial, or Mechatronic Engineering are essential. The successful candidate would be research-active in these fields. S/he would conduct and supervise research up to the master’s level. Evidence of having secured funding would be advantageous. The successful candidate should have a good knowledge of the basic material pertaining to undergraduate Mechanical, Industrial, Aeronautical, or Mechatronic Engineering courses, and the background to be registered as a Professional Engineer, if not already registered in South Africa (https://www.ecsa.co.za). Evidence of research activity in Just Energy Transition, Water Resource Management, or Digitalization will be an advantage. Likewise, teaching experience in Industrial Business Management, Mechanical Thermodynamics, Mechanical Statics & Dynamics, Mechatronic Systems, and Engineering Design will be advantageous.

DUTIES: The successful candidate will contribute in a focused and proportionate manner to: • Undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching (limited course load (typically 1 course per year)) • Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students (number aligned with fractional appointment) • Research outputs and/or participation in funded projects • Engagement with industry and professional bodies • Limited academic administration and service Inquiries: Professor Daniel N.
