  • Applications are invited to fill the position of Lecturer in Human Movement/Physical Education and Life Skills in the Foundation Phase and Intermediate Phase Departments as well as the methodologies of teaching these subjects in the school context.
  • Candidates must have expertise in this field and specific skills in the teaching of Human Movement/Physical Education and Life Skills (personal and social wellbeing), as part of Foundation Phase and Intermediate Phase Education on the Wellington Campus.
  • Competency in any of the following: swimming, netball, gymnastics, and dance.

Please note that the position is based at the Wellington Campus where tuition is in Afrikaans. Candidates must be able to teach in Afrikaans.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A Master’s degree relevant to Human Movement/Physical Education and Life Skills Education
  • A relevant teaching qualification (preferably at primary school level)
  • Human Movement (Physical Education) and Life Skills or an equivalent subject as a major subject at the undergraduate level
  • Two (2) years relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level or five (5) years’ relevant teaching experience at the Intermediate Phase level
  • Fluent in Afrikaans

RECOMMMENDATIONS:

  • A relevant doctoral degree
  • Evidence of research outputs and supervision
  • A coaching certificate in swimming and netball Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
  • Teaching Human Movement/Physical Education and Life Skills and the relevant methodologies in the Foundation and Intermediate Phases, which includes teaching swimming, netball, gymnastics, and dance.
