Job Purpose
The role of a Lecturer is to facilitate teaching and learning, provide academic support to students, conduct student consultations, assess and provide constructive feedback on student work, contribute to curriculum enhancement, and support the Academic Department through quality teaching and academic development.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Present course content in a classroom environment (online or face-to-face, as required).
- Deliver practical and theoretical lessons in software development and mobile application development.
- Facilitate programming laboratories and practical coding sessions.
- Arrange and conduct consultations with students.
- Mark assessments and provide constructive, timely feedback.
- Analyse student performance and results at a module level.
- Implement academic interventions for at-risk students.
- Maintain accurate academic records and ensure compliance with institutional policies.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in departmental meetings, moderation, and quality assurance activities.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Masters degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computing, Computer and Information Sciences, or a related field.
- Alternatively, an NQF Level 9 qualification with a strong focus on Software Development, Mobile Application Development, or Programming.
Experience
- Lecturing or industry experience in Software Development, Application Development, or Mobile Application Development.
- Experience in teaching or developing applications using C# and the .NET framework will be advantageous.
- Experience in Android application development using Android Studio and Kotlin.
- Experience in object-oriented programming principles and software development methodologies.
- Experience in student guidance, facilitation, mentoring, and academic support will be advantageous.
- Industry experience in software development is an added advantage.
Required Technical Skills
Applicants should demonstrate knowledge and practical experience in the following technologies:
- C#
- Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- .NET Framework and/or .NET Core
- Windows Forms and/or ASP.NET (advantageous)
- Android Studio
- Kotlin
- Mobile Application Development
- XML User Interface Design
- SQLite and local database integration
- RESTful API integration
- Git/GitHub version control
- Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Debugging and testing techniques
- Basic SQL and database design
